19th-Century Country Home — Full Refurbishment and Master Suite Extension
The Old Parsonage in West Berkshire is a 19th-century country home that underwent a complete refurbishment and extension, delivered in collaboration with local architects, conservation specialists and skilled craftspeople. This heritage-led renovation sought to transform the property into an elegant, welcoming family home while preserving and enhancing its period character. As with all our country house interior design and heritage refurbishment projects, the focus was on balancing architectural integrity with the needs of modern family living.
Across the property, original features were meticulously restored and paired with refined, contemporary interiors. The redesigned layout introduced a sequence of beautifully considered spaces including a formal reception room, orangery, expansive family kitchen, bespoke boot room, gym, home office and bedrooms; each blending traditional craftsmanship, bespoke joinery and timeless detailing with practical functionality.
The new master suite extension was designed to sit harmoniously alongside the historic structure, providing a serene, modern retreat that respects the home’s architectural lineage. Throughout, materials, finishes and furnishings were selected to create a cohesive aesthetic suited to a luxury country home in Berkshire.
The result is a sophisticated, enduring residence that honours its historic roots while offering a warm, comfortable setting for contemporary family life; a thoughtful example of high-end residential interior design and country home renovation in the UK.
