This new-build family home on the South West coast of Ireland was designed for a young couple seeking to create a modern, comfortable residence on their ancestral farmland. Developed in close collaboration with Node Architects, the project responds sensitively to its exposed rural location, with a series of vernacular-inspired forms arranged around a sheltered courtyard. This architectural strategy anchors the house within its landscape while offering protection from the elements and maximising natural light and views.
Inside, the interiors continue the architectural narrative of simplicity, material honesty and quiet refinement. The living and bedroom spaces sit within two slightly staggered parallel volumes, linked by a dark brick entrance block that provides flexible accommodation for family life. Across the home, we introduced warm, contemporary finishes, bespoke joinery, and natural materials to create a calm, welcoming environment that feels inherently connected to the surrounding countryside.
Our interior scheme centres on balance; pairing modern lines with tactile surfaces and soft detailing to ensure the spaces remain both functional and inviting. The result is a timeless, family-friendly home where each room flows effortlessly into the next, supporting day-to-day living while elevating moments of stillness, gathering and connection.
This project has been featured in The Irish Times, The Irish Examiner and Image Interiors, recognised for its thoughtful interplay between contemporary architecture and considered interior design.
